I just wanted to take a moment to share a bit of my story with you — I’m Gemma Leigh… and this didn’t start in Perth - (yes, I’m a POM 🤍)
It started back in the UK in 2011, while I was at university studying Business Management and Law.
Like a lot of people at that stage, I didn’t have it all figured out…
but I knew one thing for sure — I wanted more.
More freedom.
More creativity.
More from life than the path I was on.
So I started doing lashes alongside my degree to make some extra income.
At the time, it was just a side thing… something extra.
But very quickly, I saw the potential, the freedom, the peace and the passion - it was my reason.
And more than that — I felt something.
While I was working in law, something didn’t sit right.
I had built something of my own — something that gave me:
freedom, income, creativity and control…
…and I couldn’t ignore that.
So I made a decision that changed everything.
I chose the business.
I chose freedom.
I chose creativity.
And honestly… I chose myself.
From there, everything grew.
I invested in myself, expanded my skills, and in 2018 I moved into:
brows, advanced aesthetics, and education.
I also launched my own lash brand — and that’s when things really shifted.
I wasn’t just a service provider anymore…
I became an educator.
That’s how House of GB evolved — from a beauty business into something much bigger.
It grew into House of GB Training Academy, becoming one of the largest salons and training academies in Bolton, UK - it was beautiful.
Built from nothing… with vision, consistency and belief.
But for me, it was my life, the life I loved living, because of my work.
In 2023, alongside my business partner, we created Level Up Centre CIC.
This was for young people aged 14–25 who didn’t fit the traditional system — those who were NEET and just needed a different kind of opportunity. Both of us hated school and had seen how people including ourselves had changed their lives through this industry.
We worked closely with government-funded programmes and Connexions Bolton to create real pathways.
Through 10-week programmes, we helped them:
build confidence, learn real skills, and move into employment, self-employment or further education.
More importantly, it became something that actually changed lives.
The Hardest Decision
In February 2026, I made one of the hardest decisions of my journey.
I sold both House of GB Training Academy and Level Up Centre CIC.
Not because they weren’t successful…
but because deep down, I knew I was ready for something new here in Perth.
A bigger vision.
A different environment.
A fresh start.
And that’s what brought me here.
Moving to Australia and starting again from the ground up isn’t easy.
But I’ve done it before… and I know what it takes.
Perth Skin & Beauty Academy was built from everything I’ve learned over the last 15+ years.
But more than that — it was built from who I’ve become… I know that to build a successful business you need to build you first.
This isn’t just about treatments.
Or courses.
It’s about creating a space where you feel safe to grow, to build, to step into more because I love seeing people feel confident, succeed and win.

What I Truly Believe
I don’t believe in:
cutting corners, rushed work, or courses that leave you feeling lost.
I believe in:
real skills, real confidence, and real business knowledge.
Because beauty isn’t just about how something looks…
It’s about what it allows you to build.
Your confidence.
Your income.
Your life.
This Is Just The Beginning

Final Thought
I started this at university with nothing but an idea.
